☆ Bird-Phobia ☆

dvc00160

Today I joined the filming for Omiyasan ( 『おみやさん』).
I had to be ready for the first filming by 8:00am, so that I went to the studio at 6:30am.

We went to Kamo-gawa ( river side).
After lunch, I played “the woman sitting by the river for eating lunch”.

So I had sandwiches and a canned-coffee.
During the camera rehearsal, I actually didn’t need to eat them, so I just held one sandwich in my hand and put the others in front of me….

Btw, I have “Bird-Phobia”.
I don’t know why, but I am always frightened when I see birds, even pigeons…
When I sat by the river, there were two pigeons walking in front of me.
I didn’t want to see them, but it is my job to act the charactor, I tried to pretend as if there was no problem.

When I was waiting for the shooting, one of the staff members came and told me that many kites were flying over me to get my sandwiches, so  told me to keep only one in my hand and put the others inside of my bag.

I was overcome with Fear !!

” WHAT!!  KITES!!  “

I wanted to shout and run away….
I told myself  ” You are an actress. You can act!!”

In second rehearsal, there were few kites flying over the river .
I was holding a sandwich in my hand, then……

! !  !   !!   !!!!  !  !!  !!!!  !   !  ! !!!!!

Suddenly one kite hit me from behind and grabbed the sandwich!!

I was too terrified to realized what had happened on me.

The kite dropped it into the river, then a few kites came to get it.
I couldn’t move at all, but only watched what they were doing.
Director hadn’t said to stop, so I tried to continue acting….

When the rehearsal was stopped, many staff members ran to me to help.
They asked me if I was OK, if I hadn’t got a wound.
Fortunately,  the sandwich wasn’t close to my face, I was OK.
However I could only say”OK, OK” to answer them becouse of big terror…

The kite have gone anywhere after getting food,
so that I was able to act by the river for the shooting….

I couldn’t stop shuddering after that…………

☆ Filming ☆

e4ba95e4b88ae7b584e383bbe799bee5a793e291a0

Hello ★

Today I joined the filming of 水戸黄門 MitoKomon ( Samurai drama).
The filming would be started at 8:00 am if it had been sunny.
Because the scene was located outside.
Even we had known that it would be rainny in the morning today,
we had to go to the studio for the first scene.
and it takes long time to prepare, I needed to go there before 6:00am.

When I arrived the building which has the rooms for actors, no one was there.
So I couldn’t ask anyone about today’s schedule.
(It was raining then…)
No one said it would be called off, I started to prepare.

Then it was still raining when the staff came, the first scene was postponed. I had to wait for next scene which would be inside and start around at noon.

I had waited about for 6 hours but it was well worth waiting for!!
The next scene I joined was really interesting!!
Many men fought each other ( not by the swords but their hands.)
Of course I didn’t join the fighting but just looking at them.

When you watch fighting scene on TV, you may think many people are fighting all together. However everything is well planned, and filmed one by one.
So that it takes long long time to film.

Few women join the fighting scene, ( because normally men fight but not women) I was really luckey to join this filming.

Ciao!
Kyoko

☆Finally …☆

Finally I got the broadband access to the Internet in my room!!
( I hadn’t been able to be on the Internet.)

How have you been??

I had been very busy last month….
I joined the play which was hold at our company’s stage,
so that I had to practice for that

It was rainning on the day, but many people came to see us,
Thank you very much!!
Actually more people than we thought came, so some people didn’t have seats….sorry….

We started planning for this stage end of last year.
The first we had to decide the group name.
When we were thinking what was the good name for us,
there was a newspaper on the desk,
and one of us found ” Nakayama-Festa”, which was the racehorse name.
No one there had played the races, so we didn’t know whether “Nakayama-Festa” was a good horse or not…
However because there was  ”Nakayama” in the group, we named the group “Nakayama-Festa”!!

The story was about a high-school student, Haruka, who was going to transfer the school.
The play was started with her long-long farewell speech .
( It was actually 1.5 pages…. I played this girl and had to remember this long speech..)

She, Haruka,  asked her friend, Sachi, to write a love letter to the boy she loved instead of herself.
Then after school, Sachi visited Haruka, and gave her the copy of the love letter she wrote.

The reason why Haruka was going to transfer was a divorce of her parents.
However they found out that her parents weren’t going to get divorce…
It was Haruka’s misunderstanding….

She had already made a farewell speech in front of her classmates, and gave the love-letter to the boy….
In addition that,
Haruka’s mother got pregnant, but hadn’t told her yet….
Hama, who loved Haruka (on the other hand Haruka didn’t like him) visited her and got the love letter ( the copy which Sachi brought) by accident, then misunderstood that it was for him from Haruka…..

Now you can tell, it is a comedy drama!!

Even I knew all lines, I couldn’t stop laughing when we practiced it…

I really enjoyed playing on the stage!!

Seeya!

☆ Houe-Kago ☆

e5ae9de681b5e9a795e7b1a0e38080e4ba8ce697a5e79bae

I joined Houe-Kago procession yesterday and today.

Houe-Kago is the traditional event which has held since Edo period.
The famous Houe-Kago is the one held in Osaka.
Houe-Kago group goes to Ebisu Shrine which is dedicated the God for business the first to get the special gifts from the priest and goes to many companies and stores to give the gifts.
The biggest Ebisu Shrine is in Osaka, so they hold a big procession.

In Kyoto, actors from Toei-movie theme park goes to Ebisu-Shrine as Houe-Kago every year.
This year I joined it as Tegomai.
Tegomai is a kind of Geisya, which is just for processions or festivals.
So her face is like Geisya but wearing totally different kimono, and a wig.
(Actually her hair style is like Samurai!!)

e6898be58fa4e8889ee38080e3818be381a4e38289

Though I was nervous to do what I hadn’t done before,
it was really fun to join this procession.
We walked around Kyoto city with saying “Houe-Kago Ho-i ♪”.
Everyone on the street looked us with smile!!

We had warm days this weekend,
it wasn’t too cold, good weather for Houe-Kago.
It is held on 8th and 9th every year.
This year it was on weekend so that there were more people than usual.

e5ae9de681b5e9a795e7b1a01

The men wearing blue Kimono carried the Japanese traditional cart (駕籠)
which Geisya ( wearing black Kimono) sat in.
The man wearing formal Kimono is the leader,  others followed him.

Tegomai which I played walked just behind him.

You can see Geisya when you walk Gion in Kyoto.
However Geisya in this procession are wearing Edo period’s Geisya Kimono.
So they can’t wear Tabi ( socks)…. poor them….
( I was able to wear ones… lucky me ☆)

We always said ” Omedeto-gozaimasu.” ( ” Happy New Year”).
It made me very happy to say that on New Years season,
because people in the companies or stores smiled when we said so.
What a lovely job this was!!

☆Taisho-period☆

e3818ae6a285e38080e291a0

I joined the filming for the TV program
which introduces you one of  histrical artists.

This time they introduces you an artist who lived in Taisho- period( 1926 A.C~).
My role was a live - in maid of the artist.

This artist lived in Osaka, so that everyone who was in this story spoke Kansai-direct. However, because this is Taisho-period story, they spoke a little different direct from what we speak now.

e3818ae6a285e38080e291a1

This is the hair style in this period.
You can see the difference from Edo-period’s one.
In addition the hair style, some people wore western style clothes.
In the story, the artist often wore western style one.

e3818ae6a285e38080e38284e381a3e381a1e38283e38293e381a8e38082

He is a 10-month-old boy.
He had had a very cute smile on his face before the filming.

However in the story, he had to cry many times as acting.
So that I had to make him cry.
After the filming, he didn’t give me his cute smile any more…..

It was his first work on TV, he did well done:)

I joined the filming for 2 days.
It was really interesting to act this role.

☆TV show☆

e3839be38388e38381e383a3e383b3e3838de383ab1

Today I joined the filming for a Local TV show.

One famous comedian visited Eigamura,
so I took him around.

I was the only one who was with him during the filming.
Because it was the show, there wasn’t the play book to read beforehand.
So there wasn’t anything to prepare what to talk, etc…
I thought it would be really hard work for me…..

At the first, I was nervous.
( you know, no one knew what he would ask, and my job was to answer his questions.)
However, as soon as we started talking and walking, I got used to talk with him.
And I enjoyed the filming myself.

On the way, we saw the sword fighting.
Toru Iwas ( Left in the photo) http://toei-kyoto.com/actor/iwasu-toru/
and Koji Yamada ( Right in the photo) were playing the fighting.

I joined the improvised play!
The comedian played the hero part, and he fought against those two actors to help me!!
It was really fun!

This filming was a good study for me to play Impro, and without a play book.

The Character in the Chambara show

e5899be38195e38293e381a8
Hello everyone:)
How are you doing??

Yesterday, I played on the stage at Eigamura
with Tsuyoshi Inoue ( http://toei-kyoto.com/actor/tsuyoshi-inoue/ )
standing in the photo.

He played Ro-nin in the show.
Ro-nin is one type of Samurai, which is usually a bad character.
In the history, Ro-nin was the name for samurai who doesn’t belong to any samurai-organaization.

Samurai normally works for his own king ( leader samurai), fights against other Samurai-organization and occupies other’s district.

However Ro-nin doesn’t have his own king to respect.
Some of them had storng enough power to threaten the citizen,
so that they had a bad reputation.
( Of course, other Ro-nin were good, became teachers for kids or helped rice farmer, etc…)

Now when we write the story of Samurai, Ro-nin hardly works for the hero, but works in a gang or with bad Samurais….

So it is easy to tell who will be a criminal in the Samurai dramas, even if you haven’t seen the drama before….
The leader who works with Ro-nin is the bad guy!!!

Please check it out when you see Samurai drama or show next time:)

You see two Ro-nins in the Chambara show.

Ranks in Edo period

I have written about the ranks of girls, Machimusume and Bukemusume.
You will see one more rank at Eigamura.
It is Hime, Japanese princess of the king of Samurai.

Today I introduce you another rank.
It is O-dana musume.

efbc91efbc92

Can you see the difference??
(The left is me.)

The left pic is Machimusume, whose father is usually a shop keeper.
Their rank is not so high, of course it depends on the shop,
but Machimusume wearing that kind of Kimono is actually not so rich.

However the girl in the right pic is the daughter of the father who owns a big shop. Her rank is quite high in the citizen ranks.

We call the girl, O-dana mushume.
(O-dana means big shop. )

You see many accessories on her head.
I am sorry you can’t see her back, but she is wearing bigger obi (a sash) than the other girl.

If you see O-dana musume in Samurai drama,
her father usually has big power in the city,
or she is often kidnapped for the money….

Actually, when I played in the drama, Mitokomon(水戸黄門),
I played part in the O-dana musume.
( and I was almost kidnapped… )
