This character’s name is 不知火　Shiranui.
His job is 火付盗賊改方　hitsuke-tozoku-aratamekata,
which serves under Tokugawa government.

This is a task force against arson, thief, and gambling, which terrified citizens the most in Edo.

There was  町奉行 machibugyo,
which is the official police, however it wasn’t enough to keep the peace.
So the government made a  new official position for the three atrocious crimes.

Though this task force was made to keep the peace, they had strong enough power and rights to threaten citizens.

In addition that, 町奉行 and 火付盗賊改方 hated each other.
(Because 火付盗賊改方 was permited to use swords to catch criminals, on the other hand 町奉行 wasn’t.)

Therefore, in Samurai dramas, they are usually put as the role of villains.
poor them….

So, in the chambara show, which I play,  it is really easy to tell who are bad guys!
Ronin ( I mentioned it before) and 火付盗賊改方　are typical viallains….

This role has many clothes to wear as the uniform.
And this actor has to play the sword fighting a lot.
you know, it is really hot…….
